Decorating the sliding glass door in your Louisville home can be tricky. You can’t decorate it like a normal door because of how it opens, and you can’t decorate it like a normal window because you have to be able to walk out of it. The one nice thing you can do though is that you have enough room to use the large decorations that you can’t on a normal window or door.
Christmas Presents for Sliding Glass Doors
One fun decoration that you can do on your sliding glass door is a pile of Christmas presents. To do this, take thin pieces of cardboard or the flat part of a gift box and wrap it up with gift wrap. You can leave the gift with just wrapped in gift wrap, or you can also use ribbon on the further decorate. If you do choose to use ribbon, keep it flat against the box and do not use any bows.
Finally, attach the presents to the part of the sliding glass door that does not get overlapped by the other door. Create enough presents to line the bottom of the glass in the door and then stack the rest at an angle.
Sliding Glass Door Snowflakes
With sliding glass doors, you can’t hang items as easily above them because you still have to be able to walk out of them, so decorations should always be on the glass or the frame that is holding the glass in.
One easy decorating idea is to hang three, large, flat snowflakes in the glass. You can string the snowflakes with thin white ribbon and tape the ribbon the frame of the door. You can also use suction cup hooks and hang the large snowflakes at varying levels by white or gold thread.
Wreaths on Sliding Glass Doors
With the large amount of space you have on your sliding glass door, you can use it to display much larger decorations. For example, that large wreath that you have always wanted but knew would never fit on your front door.
By using a large suction cup hook or two on the part of the sliding glass door that does not get overlapped by the other door, you can hang that large wreath that you always wanted.
