It’s time to splash your windows in green and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!
While it may not be as big of a holiday as Christmas, Halloween, or Valetine’s Day, don’t let that stop you from having fun with it. Here are a couple of fun projects for window decorations that you can sit down and do with friends and family, or just by yourself.
St. Patrick’s Fake Window Glass
Supplies:
- Wax paper
- Crayons
- Pencil sharpener
- Kraft paper
- St. Partick’s Day stencils or shapes
Let’s Get Started:
- Take the stencils or shapes and trace their shape with a pencil onto the wax paper.
- Cut out the shape from the wax paper, carefully.
- You are going to want to cut out two of the above (front and back) for each shape.
- Decide what colors you want to make your shapes (multiple colors are encouraged).
- Put the wax paper on a piece of kraft paper to protect the surface you are working on.
- Use the pencil sharpener and create crayon shavings of your chosen colors. Let the shavings fall evenly on the wax paper.
- Place the second piece of wax paper on top of the shavings.
- Put a piece a kraft paper over the top wax paper, to protect your iron.
- Iron the paper lightly on medium heat, lifting the kraft paper and check on your project every 3 passes over the paper with the iron.
- Once all the shavings are melted, let the project cool.
- Once cool, attach each shape in your window and enjoy the homemade stained glass for the holiday.
St. Patrick’s Day Window Clings
Supplies:
- Green and yellow puffy paint (or whatever other St. Patrick’s Day colors you want to use)
- Wax paper
- Uncomplicated St. Patrick’s Day templates
Let’s Get Started:
- Place the templates on the table with the wax paper over them (waxy side up).
- Trace the lines of the template with the puffy paint on the wax paper with nice thick lines (the larger lines make it easier to move later).
- Let it dry overnight.
- Peel your new St. Patrick’s Day Clings from wax paper and apply to windows.
