Once the glass on a window has been cleaned, most people don’t bother to clean the frame around the window or the sill on the bottom. These places get dirty also and once cleaned you will be amazed at how much better your window will look.When cleaning a window sill or frame it should always be done after you have washed the window. This will prevent you from having to clean the sill or frame again when the dirt from cleaning the window drips on them.Move the Glass When Cleaning a Window Sill and FrameIf your windows are designed to be removed, then remove them to clean the sill and frame. The less you have in your way, the easier it will be to clean. If your windows aren’t designed to be removed, at least move the window to the open position and then closed again to clean as much as you possibly can.Cleaning a Window Sill of Loose DirtStart cleaning out the window sill by vacuuming it out. This will get up all of the loose dirt, dead bugs and whatever else has settled in there. You can vacuum in there with your handheld vacuum cleaner or with one of the smaller attachments that comes with your regular vacuum cleaner.Always vacuum up the loose dirt first, as it makes the rest of the cleaning easier.Cleaning a Window Sill and Frame with CleanerWhen cleaning a window sill and frame of the stuck on dirt, you can use the same window cleaner that you used to clean the windows with. You can also use kitchen cleaner, bathroom cleaner, or plain rubbing alcohol that is slightly diluted.To keep your cleaner of choice from getting on the glass of the window, spray it on the cleaning rag and then wipe down the sill and frame. This will prevent you from having to clean the glass again if you accidently spray cleaner on it.Into the Tight Spots when Cleaning a Window Sill or FrameThe nooks and crannies of the window sill and frame collect dirt as well. To get into these hard to reach spots put some cleaner on the end of a cotton swab and get the swab as deep as you can into the nooks and crannies. If you have a particularly hard spot to get to, use a toothpick the scrap out the dirt. Just make sure to do it gently so that you don’t leave scratches after cleaning a window sill or frame.
