  • A squeegee
  • A towel (not a paper towel)
  • Winter window cleaner

To make the winter window cleaner, mix one part water with two parts auto, windshield cleaner that is recommended for temperatures below 32 degrees.Get to CleaningWhen you are ready, bundle up and head outside with all of your materials and clean those windows as quick as you can. Do one window at a time and come inside to warm up between windows if you need to.First, spray the window with the winter window cleaner. Spray it so that it is all over the window, but not dripping. You don’t want to have to be chasing streaks and you don’t want this window cleaner dripping in your flower beds or in your window flower boxes.Next, take the squeegee and bring it down the window to remove the window cleaner and the dirt. Always start at the top and bring it all the way down to the bottom. After each pass take the towel and wipe the squeegee and the bottom edge of the window. When you are done with the glass, take the towel and wipe up any excess cleaner that is on the glass, in the corners, and on the edge. At this point, you window should be clean once again.Avoiding Winter Window CleaningIf you would prefer to avoid winter window cleaning altogether, ask us about our high-performance Low-E4 glass. This special glass has a titanium dioxide exterior coating that releases dirt from the glass when the sun shines on the coating. The dirt is then simply washed away with the next rain or wet snow. The titanium dioxide coating also makes the glass dry faster when it’s wet, and decreases water spots on the window by about 99%.
