From a 2013 Houzz & Home survey, the answer is that many homeowners are indeed looking at starting up those home remodel projects again. Of 100,000 people that responded to Houzz’s survey 53% are planning a remodeling project right now, while 58% have one planned for some time in the next two years.Last year when asked 52% of people said that they were going to delay their home improvement project for a little bit longer due to the economy. This year that number dropped to 45%.Home Improvement ReasonsPeople have many reasons for starting a home improvement project. Some are tired of looking at their kitchen cabinets, others want a bigger house. According to the survey other reasons include:

  • Making their home more energy efficient (34% of people).
  • Increasing the home’s value (54%)
  • Changing the look and feel of a specific space (83%)

What is the Top Home Improvement Project Planned? The top home improvement project planned by homeowners this year is the bathroom. Of the survey participants, 28% of them have their eyes set on this room, even though it is not the room they claim to spend the most time in.The next most popular room on the home improvement list is the kitchen with 23%.What if I Don’t Want to Focus on One Room?Just because other homeowners are planning on concentrating on a single room in their home doesn’t mean that you have to. And because of the bad economy, many people have gone a long time without updating basic aspects of their home that are more important than the color of their bathroom; like their windows.Windows are an important barrier that stands between your comfort inside and the outside elements. When they get old or damaged, this vital part of your home needs to be replaced. The great thing about choosing to do your windows as your home improvement project is that it not only will repair a basic need for your home, it also increases your home’s value, can make it more energy efficient, and it improves the look and feel of your home both inside and out.Source: http://www.houzz.com/press/10/Majority-of-U-S--Homeowners-Believe-Now-is-a-Good-Time-to-Renovate---Houzz-Survey-Finds?mkt_tok=3RkMMJWWfF9wsRoiuq%2FBZKXonjHpfsX57%2BgrXKG2lMI%2F0ER3fOvrPUfGjI4CTMdjI%2FqLAzICFpZo2FFQFfWPZg%3D%3D
