Look for Cracks

Are there cracks on your door? Does it look weathered? Gaps in your door can let in drafts and raise your heating costs this winter, so if you see any cracks, it’d be a good idea to replace your front door before the weather gets too cold. 

Keep in mind that some cracks aren’t that visible. You can use the incense smoke trick to check for leaks. Close all the windows and doors in your home and light an incense stick near your door. The smoke should drift towards cracks and gaps, if there are any. 

Check If the Doors Can Still Close Properly

Can you get the door to hang level on its hinges? Can you still open and close it properly? If not, you’ll need to replace it soon.
