Valentine’s Pompoms for Your Louisville Windows

Looking for an easy, but unique decoration for your Louisville windows this Valentine’s Day?For those crafty and even those not so crafty out there, here is a project that is as easy as stringing popcorn for the Christmas tree. Only it’s not Christmas, and we won’t be using popcorn.This project is for you and an older kid or teenager as it requires the use of a needle, but it is a great excuse to sit down and talk to them at the table while you are working on this.What You Will Need

• Red pompoms of different sizes
• Pink pompoms of different sizes
• White thread
• Sewing needle

How to Make ItTo start, tie a knot at the end of the string with at least a 2-inch tail to it. Next, figure out exactly how long you want the garland to be. Make the string as long as your window is tall and attach it with one end at the top of the window and the other end at the bottom to create a single vertical strand. You will be creating several of these strands to attach all the way across your window.If you don’t have the time to create all of the vertical strands you need, you can make a single strand that can be draped across the top of your window as a swag.Once you have decided how you are going to use the garland and how long you need the string to be, thread the needle and sew the thread through the middle of a pompom. When the string is all the way through, tie another knot in the thread about 3 to 5 inches away from the first pompom and sew the second pompom on above the knot.Repeat this process until you get to the end of the thread and tie another knot to close the thread with another 2-inch tail.(If you are going for the vertical garland, vary the distance between each pompom on the strands for the best look)While You Are Attaching the Garland, Check Your Louisville WindowsWhile you are up at the top of the window putting up the garland, it would be a great time for you to check the windows. If you feel any cold air coming in, it might be time for you to do some winter maintenance on the window to stop the draft before you lose too much more money on your heating bill.
