You are never restricted to staying with just one specific type of window style all the way around your house. In fact, alternating different styles of windows can give your home its own personality and make it more functional. You are also not stuck with a certain style of window just because that is what the home came with, you can always change your window style when it comes time for them to be replaced.Window Style IdeasUsually when people ask if they can use different styles of windows for their homes they already have something in mind. But for those that never thought about it before now, an example of having multiple window styles in your home can include having a picture window on one side of a room and a sliding window on the other side of the room. The picture window gives you a great view of the outside without any obstructions, and the sliding window allows you to still be able to open at least one window to let some fresh air in.Another idea is to mix up window styles on the same wall. You can start with a picture window in the middle for a great view, and then on the sides add casement windows that are narrower than the picture window, but are the same height. You can even add a fixed specialty window above another window style to make that window more decorative.Window Types AvailableBelow will give you an idea of the different window styles available:Picture Windows – Picture windows are a large single piece of glass and do not open at all.Casement Windows – Casement windows swing out from the house on hinges that are on the side.Awning Windows – Awning windows are hinged at the top so when you open them it is the bottom that swings open.Sliding/Gliding Windows – These windows are similar to the double-hung windows except that they move from side to side, instead of up and down.Double-Hung Windows – Double-hung windows allow you open the window from either the bottom or the top. The sashes slide up and down so you don’t have to make sure there is room outside of the window for it to swing open.Specialty Windows – These are custom built windows that are designed to specifically fit the look of your home.If you have additional questions about our different window styles for your home, contact us today!
