In the not-so-distant past, window style options were limited to traditional styles. As the need for beautiful and cozier homes increased over time, window manufacturers started making windows of different styles to match diverse architectural styles.

Window Beauty Blog Part 1

In the first installment of our blog, Renewal by Andersen® of Kentucky discusses the top window styles that fit specific home styles. Be sure to consider the following on your next window installation project:

Industrial Modern

Modern architecture has linear features and is typically free of unnecessary elements. This home style incorporates an array of materials for added texture and is common in urban settings. One of its defining elements is having multiple window units arranged in rectangular or varied groupings for added functionality.

A perfect example would be bay windows. They feature a central picture window flanked by two other windows. They project out of your home in an angle, providing a functional space inside your home that can serve as a dining or reading area.

French Eclectic

These homes are inspired by French architecture and are characterized by shallow-pitched roofs and deep, broad porch elements. They also come with unique structural features, such as rafters, brackets, and columns.

While a wide range of windows can complement this architectural style, the leading choice would be casement windows. We can install them in hard-to-reach places, such as above the kitchen sink or cabinets, allowing for more ventilation. They also come with a high-quality crank for easy operation.

Craftsman Bungalow

A predominant architectural style from the Arts and Crafts movement in the early 20th century, this comes with shallow pitched roofs and exposed rafter tails. Some of its iconic characteristics are conical-roofed round towers and symmetrical and asymmetrical windows in formal and informal homes, respectively.

Similar to French Eclectic homes, they incorporate an array of window styles with interior-stained double-hung windows being a common choice. Furthermore, they tend to have vertically proportioned grilles located on the upper part of the window. Our double hung windows come in a wide selection of design options such as interior and exterior colors, finishes, and window grille patterns.
